The general idea of the workshop is to strengthen the theoretical and cultural background of the photographic production of the participants. How to situate the creative work in in the field of contemporary images ? How to reflect on the relationship to other epistemological fields like literature, history or sciences ?
How to develop a personal methodology of the practical work in referring to synchrone and diachrone aspects of the history and presence of photographic images. The candidates have to define their theoretical framework and send their work together with a little texte of 1-2 pages at least two weeks before the workshop.

Born 1964 in Austria, photo-based artist, lives and works in Paris. Studied literature and contemporary history at the University of Innsbruck and photography at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles. Teaches practical and theoretical methodology at the Department of Photography at the University Paris 8 (UFR Arts, philosophie, esthétique). His work deals with history, memory, language in the field of visual arts. He published numerous catalogs and books.
