Sirpa Päivinen is Helsinki based visual artist working with photography and video. Main focus in her work is a modern lifestyle and today’s phenomenons. Päivinen processes those topics through landscape and her personal life and body. She exploits the iconic representations of the national people, values and history. Recently she has started using collage technique in her works.
Päivinen has been exhibiting her works in Finland and abroad. Päivinen studied photography at the University of Arts and Design (Aalto University).
She is a member of Artist Collective Kunst who creates various artistic interventions and curates a contemporary art gallery Galleria Lapinlahti in Helsinki
The Finlandia -series attemps to redefine the perception of ourselves and national symbols. The series has been depicted for three decades.
In the final act, Finland’s maiden was analyzed, scattered and re-assembled. The final entity is the product of the system and the constantly on change.
