Aukusti Heinonen is a photographer and visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. He focuses his lens for landscapes, build environment, architecture and aerial views. Since 2015 he has photographed quickly changing environment of Helsinki and it’s surroundings.
Aukusti completed an MA in photography at Aalto University 2017.
The title of the work Anthrosols refers to the type of soil that is formed as a result of a long-term human activity.
This series consists views of the city, the inner and outer dimensions of the construction sites. The location of the pictures is a city that is currently under construction. The pictures do not have recognizable human figures, but the impact of human is very present.
Although the pictures are taken in a small city in the northern hemisphere, they tell stories of the global phenomenas: urbanization, urban condensation, urban invisible infrastructure; the impact of human activities on the environment.
