Fluvial is a meditation on the beaches and villages of interior northern and central Portugal. Photographed between 2011 and 2017, these fluvial scenes seek in part a non-ironic vision of the everyday, vernacular, elements.
Meant as a painterly, theatrical, fiction, these images convey a sense of belonging coupled with a defamiliarizing gaze, and an affection for natural forms.
Realistic yet dreamlike, conveying a pagan sense of nature, creating the atmospheric effect of an infinite Sunday, it reminds a summer dream.
