Miikka Pirinen (b. 1985) is a professional photographer based in Helsinki Finland. Specialised in shooting people, working freelance with photojournalism, portraits, editorial and commercial assignments.
Member of collectives 11 and Helsinki Street.
His personal documentary projects have dealt with Finnish criminal sanction system, North American cage fighting children, Finnish rare diseases, rehabilitation of the mentally unstable in Helsinki and drought in Kenya and the Maasai, among many others...
Currently documenting the coal miners of the U.S. Appalachia.
In 2015 Pirinen was shortlisted for Magnum 30 under 30 prize and has been awarded four times in the Finnish Press Photos competition
