Franziska Kunze is an art and photography historian. She studied art and visual history at Humboldt-University in Berlin. From 2014 to 2017 she worked as a research associate at the Cluster of Excellence »Image Knowledge Gestaltung« at Humboldt-University in the project »Attention & Form«. Ms. Kunze graduated from Folkwang University of the Arts with a doctoral thesis on the visualisation of photographic materiality as an artistic strategy. Since May 2017, she is a fellow in the programme »Museum Curators for Photography« of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation leading her to the photographic collections of the Münchner Stadtmuseum, Museum Folkwang in Essen, Victoria & Albert Museum in London and, at the moment, Fotomuseum Winterthur.
Franziska Kunze specialises in the photographic materiality, historical photographic handbooks, journals and magazines, the notion of materials as eyewitnesses as well as their haptics and perception.
