Dr. Nissan N. Perez is currently an independent photography historian, consultant and curator Dr. Perez is the director of the Moi Ver archive and co-founder of the KIPA photography award. In his previous positions worked for over 37 years as Senior Curator of Photography at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, where he conceived and created the photography department and its extensive collection. After his retirement served as Vice-President of the Shpilman Institute for Photography in Tel Aviv.
During his curatorial career he conceived and curated over 190 exhibitions in Israel and Worldwide and published numerous books, catalogs and articles.
In addition, he taught graduate courses and seminars at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, The Hebrew University, The Ben Gourion University of the Negev, and currently teaches at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain.
He studied psychology, philosophy and art history at the Hebrew University and obtained a PhD from the University of Brighton, UK. He was trained in curatorial studies in Paris and London followed by a one-year internship at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY.
